Why Choose Aveda?
I hope you are all well and enjoying the fresh air and warmer weather that is finally here!
Now that Earth Month is officially underway, I wanted to take a few minutes to share some of the things that makes Aveda different from other beauty companies. This is important because you should know what you are getting when you purchase Aveda products and the impact that the company has on the world we live in.
It all starts with the Aveda mission.
“Our mission at Aveda is to care for the world we live in, from the products we make to the ways in which we give back to society. At Aveda, we strive to set an example for environmental leadership and responsibility, not just in the world of beauty, but around the world.”
How is all of this really accomplished though? Although it was tempting to write a novel about it, I decided to pick just some of the ways that really stand out to me and tell you a little about them today.
Naturally Derived Ingredients
Aveda is constantly working to increase the quality and amount of naturally derived ingredients in its products. This is quite a commitment since challenges can occur if there happen to be any issues with crop harvest. This is a small price to pay, however, in order to responsibly source materials.
Aveda’s products are also paraben, phthalate, and sodium lauryl sulfate free. All mineral ingredients are from non-petroleum sources.
Did you know Aveda has been cruelty-free since it’s founding in 1978? So you can rest assured that your products aren’t contributing to unnecessary animal suffering. All products are “people-tested.” Being an animal lover this is personally one of my favorite things about Aveda products.
All Aveda products are manufactured with 100% wind power. This is done through renewable energy credits and carbon offsets that balance the electrical and natural gas usage from production. Doing this allows them to offset their carbon footprint over time.
Ever wonder exactly what makes Aveda products “Smell like Aveda”? All of those amazing aromas are made with pure plant and flower essences. Aveda actually has a team, lead by head Pure-Fumer Guy Vincent, whose job is to keep creating aromas that carry on the tradition started by Aveda founder Horst Rechelbacher. Guy lends his extensive knowledge of aromatherapy and years of experience in perfumery to each and every aroma in the products that he works with Aveda to develop.
Keeping in mind their environmental footprint Aveda continues to work to minimize their packaging and maximize the use of recyclable and post-consumer recycled materials. They are proud to have been the first beauty company to use 100% post-consumer recycled PET.
These are just a few of the reasons that I love using Aveda products every day and why I am pleased that Capretti and Company has been partnered with the company for 18 years. I hope you enjoyed learning a little more about what makes Aveda a step above other beauty companies and why you can feel good about choosing a company that cares about you and the world we live in.
